strugglin’ with happy
i started writing this post and about a paragraph in i realized it was only making me unhappier to write it. so i stopped, erased it, and thought, “what would make me better?” and my words to my oldest on the way home tonight came back to me, “if you have nothing nice to say - say nothing at all.” hmmm…
so…
here’s to gettin’ happy!
when the dog bites, when the bee stings, when you’re feelin’ sad…
these are a few of my favorite things…
-the song “have yourself a merry little christmas”
-the song “yellow”
-green day
-listening to live bands
-a good glass of wine
-a great salad
-friends to hang out with
-when there’s two pink lines
-when they say he/she is here, are you ready to hold your new little one?
-knowing this is the last pregnancy
-puppy breath
-when my honey pulls up in the driveway
-when i’ve been gone and my kiddos spill out of the house with so many stories
-nerds candy
-vino’s
-sitting down at the end of the day with the house quiet
-when there is finally silence from the kids’ room
-seeing all three play together
-a great glass of real lemonade
-cherry limeades from sonic
-my morning coffee
-when my middlest nuzzles me in the morning and says, “i love you, mama”
-knowing that every morning i get a fresh chance to get it right
-knowing that i’ve come a long way, baby
-hearing my oldest sing “hark the herald angels sing”
-hearing my girl sing “holy, holy, holy”
-watching all three of them pray
-my sister’s fruit salad
-a new haircut
-a new pair of tennis shoes
-fuzzy socks
-bright colors
-children’s books
-the art the boys come up with
-getting to hang out with shurgar and pearl together - what a pair!
-the funny stuff my husband says
-knowing just what he’ll say next
-the surprises he comes up with
-the comfort of my family
amazingly, i do feel a bit better. here’s to changing your mindset!
