Hope Your Weekend Was Just As Halloweeny!

This weekend was the first one in weeks that we didn’t have anywhere to be. Soccer’s final fun for the season was last week. And, although, we had several invites for Saturday we declined them all to just stay home, be together, and relax. We declared it Halloween party day! We did crafts and made a gingerbread haunted house:
The house was a kit bought from the store, the spiders were sweet gumballs collected on a recent hike, spray painted, with pipe cleaners and googly eyes glued on.
Carved our pumpkin:

And a few other fruits!

The mostly failed attempt at a carved banana!

The semi-successful carved apple
I also started on costumes for the big night. I’m so proud of me, I’m ahead of the game this year. Last year I didn’t start on their costumes until the day of. oh.my.goodness. So to be this prepared at this stage feels so good!
Here’s a sneak peak:

Can you guess what we’re gonna be?!
And tell me what you’re gonna be?

oh how fun!
WIZARD OF OZ!!!
Teehee!
Also LOVE the idea of carving different fruits!
Were off to see the wizard and I cant wait to see the costumes!!!My kiddos are going to ALL be vampires,I have preliminary pics up at my blog.I always wondered if you could carve more than melons..LOL
Follow the yellow brick road… =) I love it! Missing you! =)
Carve a banana? Only you or Matt. Hey! I have heard that turnips make good lanterns. Can’t wait to see everyone in costume! Love ya’ll
Aww too cute! We were going to do Wizard of Oz, but I’m not as crafty and adult costumes cost a fortune! So, instead of a family theme like I wanted, Cayson is an astronaut, Bryce is peas in a pod, Shaun is a ski instructor (because we’re doing Trunk or Treat at our church and our game is the Wii Fit ski), and I guess I might be a farmer, if I dress up. Get it, peas in a pod, farmer? ha ha. It’s a cheap (free)/easy costume. Oh and I saw someone on Martha Stewart carve cantaloupes, apples, and a watermelon.
