Funny You Ask

On my last post where I wished you well, Kathi asked where my snow was.

In the south we don’t see snow so often.  But ice storms are nothin’ new.

It starts out as rain as the front moves through.  Then turns to sleet.  Everything gets all wet and freezes.

And then more rainfall and sleet and more freezing.

The joke around here for the last few days is whether you’ve made your frantic run to the grocery store for bread and milk.  I did.  The morning it started sleeting.  Because I like to live on the edge.

In south central Arkansas when ice storms hit – electricity goes out.  We were spared this time.  My friends weren’t.

Then it started snowing!  And we got a light dusting right on top of the ice.

Down here, where we’re not as prepared for such conditions (though they happen yearly) school lets out, families hunker down for the 2 or 3 day duration, even churches shut down.

You can even see the steam rising all over the ground.

Sparkles everywhere that prompt my husband to say things “It’s like a Bob Ross painting.  It looks almost overdone.”

  • Wow! I LOVE those shots of the ice! I know ice is probably much worse to deal with than snow, though. We got 12 inches of snow last week, and didn't lose the electricity thank the Lord! It's a messy wintry mix right now outside, which I'm hoping doesn't amount to anything!
