Christmas Morn ’09

cookies-for-santa Christmas Morn 09

Every year we make Christmas cookies for Santa.  We also always leave a note for Santa – the kids are too much like their mama – they always have something to say.  That’s TheOldest’s handwritten note – the first year one of the kids have written the note and not just dictated it to me.  A few weeks ago we read a book about Santa Mouse and the kids decided to leave a piece of cheese for him.  Matt said this was a little much and that he didn’t believe in Santa Mouse, but the kids weren’t having it.  So, cheese it was.  Egg nog was voted on this year over the traditional milk, and for some reason BigMan decided to add a grapefruit to the mix.  We spent Christmas Eve shopping, eating pizza out, and having a very rainy day on the town – noteworthiness - part of the interstate was closed down due to ridiculous amounts of rain.  We got home late, very excited, baked those cookies, did a quick clean up, opened the standard one Christmas Eve present, dashed off that note, then sat and listened as Daddy read the real Christmas story from Luke as well as from Matthew and hurried off to bed.

This was our tree just before Santa left his presents.

The Christmas rush began just a few short hours after Santa’s helpers gave up.

This picture just struck me.  Captured them somehow.  Timeless.

My Christmas present came early this year.  About 2 months before Christmas, actually.  Thank you, Matt, for such a sweet one!  And I couldn’t be happier with him.

I love this picture.  I love how TheOldest’s shirt gives away his true youth even though he strives to always “be” older.  I love his bed head.  I love his smiley cutesy face.  And I love that the clock marks forever in this photo the time it all started.

After the present unwrapping we (intentionally and excitedly) went to a gas station for their awesome greasy huge cheeseburgers, and then over to Nana and Papa’s house for their gifts.  We came back home, ate some crockpot deer dinner, and went off to bed.

We had ourselves a Merry little Christmas.  I hope yours was as well!
