Back in April of this year we went to Orange Beach, Alabama for our first ever family beach vacation. We had a blast! One of the things we did while there was collect sea shells. And before we left, right at the end I had my oldest gather a gallon ziplock full of sand because I knew even then I wanted to make our own souvenir jars with the shells and sand we collected. I have to admit that once we got home the bag of sand and massive amount of shells were just too daunting for me to tackle. For months. But the other day, four months after we got back!, I decided it was time.
So we got out all of those shells. And let them all pick their favorites.
Then I divided up the sand evenly on paper plates and showed them how to pour it into their jars.
Then they put their favorites shells on top of the sand.
Arranged however they want.
Then the kids decorated their jars with markers.
They were so proud.
I hope it’s something they will cherish for years to come.
