Last week I got to go see friends that I haven’t been able to see nearly often enough. It’s crazy to me that we’ve been friends this long now. Brandy and I have been friends since my oldest was 2 and my second was a crawler. In fact, I’ve told her many a time she is the reason we have our girl. Because the morning that she gave birth to one of her girls it gave us the fever for another baby – and nine months after her sweet girl’s birth, my girl was born!
I met Melissa through Brandy. I met her at a homeschool party Brandy invited me to just after I began homeschooling my oldest. So, we’ve been talking blogs, photography, food, frogs, Carmex, and babies for about 5 1/5 years. Speaking of babies we’ll be taking our friendship to the next crazy level in September. Because I’ve invited her into my home and my, ahem, most personal life to photograph the homebirth of our 6th child. It’ll not only be my first time to have a homebirth, it’ll also be the first time to have a professional photographer (she has her own photography business – Melissa Stover Photography) in the room while bringing a new life into the world. I’m glad it’s her because she is nuts. I’m not sure she’s not certifiably so. And how much fun could a birth be in your own living room photographed by a mad woman, assisted by the craziest man I know, midwifed by a sweet friend of mine that I’ve known for about 4 years now, Amy Cefalo of Natural State Midwife Services. Plus, I’m sure we’ll be live blogging the birth much like we did with our last birth. I’m fairly certain it will be one insane circus come September. You already have your tickets, right?
