We have since made the transition from an actual notebook to a 3 prong folder. That way we can add more pages if needed.
Here’s another in our “How this actually looks in our Homeschooling” series. I’ve been working back through all of our subjects now that the year is in full swing, let you know what’s working, how it’s working, and what we’ve abandoned altogether from our beginning of the school year plans.
The first 2 paragraphs in the text book were one days’ worth of reading with one day’s worth of notes next to it in the notebook.
First of all I’m loving Jeannie Fulbright’s Exploring Creation with Astronomy. We’re doing it nearly identically to how we’ve been doing Mystery of History. I read a short section. I write some important points on the chalk board, they copy it into their notebook and draw a simple picture to go with it. That’s it.
The notes in the image above were added to over the course of 2 or 3 days. This would be too much writing in one subject for my 4th and 2nd graders.
Simple, brief. Effective.
