Not Me – I’m A Perfect Mom

Some of my friends seem to think I have it all together.  That my school room/dining room always looks like this.  That I plan perfectly.  That I keep my kids perfectly busy all the time.  I know I’ve fed this misconception by posting a lot of my How I Do What I Do posts.  Those are loose guidelines that I aim for.  More often than not this is what my life looks like.  Now on with the Not Me-ness!

I never miss the naptime window and let my 9 month fall asleep standing up.

My school room never looks like this.

I have not had the same words written (read: scribbled) on my chalkboard for a minimum of a week and a half.

I did not misspell the word “ark” as “arc” when writing our copywork sentence on the board.  I did not discover it after all three children had written it in marker on their pictures.

I do not have the word “SiN” randomly written by a child on the chalkboard.

There are not oatmeal bowls attracting flies on the table because I always have my children scrape their own bowls and put them away in the sink.

These are not my children vegetating in front of The Backyardigans instead of doing schoolwork midmorning.  While I dreamed of curriculum and played on Facebook.

My children did not look like this on the way to my oldest’s baptism.  Nor do they normally look this excited to be going to church.

I did not take blurry pictures of these things and slap them on my blog unedited for the world to see.

We have the same clock! I never ignore mine. I’m sure don’t either. ;)

P.S. I really like your chalkboard, even if you don’t always use it.

You really need to take the rubber bands off the baby’s arms before you take him out in the sun. His tan is uneven. :)

Seriously, I see a little school desk there. What do you use it for? Husband came home with one and I can’t decide how to use it.

love it :) thanks for baring it all ;) and I LOVE the little tan lines of white between the chub on the finalists arms… not all kids can fall asleep in those things, BTW… I wish Clo would, I bet no one has admitted to you that it’s an accomplishment to teach your kids to do that ;) Clo is very particular about how/where/when she sleeps, LOL

Haha…love it. Glad to know you’re normal. Makes me feel better about my son eating straight lucky charms marshmallows for breakfast today. ;)

Hey! We have that same walker / saucer. And our toys don’t stand up any more either. :) But I don’t think one baby (out of all 3) has ever fallen asleep in it.
    Thanks for keepin’ it real.

That baby is his daddy made over. His daddy went to sleep one time in Mamaw’s driveway. I still want to go back, pick him up, and beg his forgiveness.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this post. :) Probably my favorite blog post ever. I always say “a messing is a blessing” as in…please don’t clean your house up better than normal when I come over so maybe I’ll have a glimpse of not feeling like the only messy failure! Actually, I do similar posts to this on my fb page. Every now and then, I will post a picture of my giant mountain of unfolded laundry…for everyone’s laugher, and I hope a little bit of encouragement. Good Job. Go you!
