Medicine Charts

A couple of weeks ago TheFinalist had an ear infection.  His medicine required him to take it twice a day for 10 days.  Now, maybe that’s easy for you to keep up with, but my scattered brain railed at that thought “10 days?  When is that?  Did I already give that today?  Or was that yesterday I’m thinking of?”  Good grief.  And if you add any other children to the medicine taking bit, you have complete pandamonium.  So the answer?  Charts.  Of course.  I like to immediately see everything.  I drew up a quick chart, stuck it on the fridge (handily where the medicine is kept, see, I AM a thinker!) with a pen nearby.

And looky there.  I still missed a dose.  Even with a chart.  Can you imagine what I would’ve done without one?  I did give that last dose, however, I just was so excited to be done with the antibiotics I didn’t mark it off in complete exuberance.  That or laziness, whichever.

Do you keep charts for everything?  What are some of yours?  Am I the only crazy one?

I am a list queen. I have to do lists for everything…even blog posts that are in my brain and not on the blog yet. I find if I write things down I don't have a chance to forget it, obviously, but I also don't worry so much and stress because I'm afraid of forgetting something I need to do. I have a list application on my cell phone, so I just jot things down whenever and then they are easy to get to.

Well, I don't exactly make a chart, but I learned this from my mom. Whenever anyone is sick we immediately grab a notepad or piece of paper and start recording. Time temperature was taken—what was the temperature–medicine given and how much and what time. ESPECIALLY in the middle of the night. Cause when you wake up at 7:00 it's hard to remember….was that at 2 or 4 and did I give Tylenol or Motrin?

Husband helps with this b/c he's a bit of a worrier when they are sick.

    What else do you chart?
