Baby Names – Got Some?

early-may-baby-belly

On my facebook page I mentioned that we don’t have any names picked out yet for BabyBoyBlue, but that I was open to suggestions.  And, wow, people came out of the woodwork with names!  I love it.  Keep ‘em comin’.  Here’s what we’ve thought on so far.

We go Biblical first names.  And all the other boys have “ah” at the end of their names.  I kinda like the idea of sticking with that, but I’m not absolutely set on it.

We’ve had Jedidiah suggested and call him Jedi.  Pretty amazing that was even brought up.  It’s been a running joke in our house since we found out we’re having a baby this time.  Matt keeps teasing with the kids that the child’s name is going to be Jedidiah (and call him Jedi).  I hate Jedidiah.  Sorry if your name is Jedidiah, if you have a child named Jedidiah, if you’re married to a Jedidiah, or just dream having a Jedidiah some day.  I hate it.  It sounds like a hick name to me.  Love the idea of Jedi.  Hate Jedidiah.

Don’t like Joshua.  I don’t know, knew a kid in elementary that was gross.  Just can’t do it.

Not wild about Jacob.

My dad has suggested Abraham and call him Abe.  I don’t know, I’ll throw it in the pot, but probably not.

Kind of like Moses.  But I just don’t know.

Sorry, Kacyn, I can’t go with Jesus.  Yelling at my “Jesus” when he hits his sister?  It’s just wrong to me.  And the Hispanic pronunciation doesn’t quite fit with our family.

I’m really liking Isaiah or Elijah.

Still don’t think I can go with Peter.  Peter Parker.  Just yells Spidey and I don’t think I can do that.

Parker Parker Parker still has an appeal to me, but not really sure I can really do it and pull it off.  Like, for the rest of his life, you know?

Can’t do Jeremiah without singing about a bullfrog.

No Luke, Mark, Matthew (don’t want a Junior), John.

Kinda like Thomas, but again I don’t know.

We know a Samuel and another Sam, and yet another Samuel, so again, eh.

We want a little different, but no Malachi (too Children of the Corn to me) and I don’t want somebody with the baggage of Ananias.

Elisha sounds like a girl’s name nowadays.

Too close to Idol to go with Adam.

An Abel would have brothers in this house and that would be just too much stress for me.

Micah is kind of girly to me.  Sorry, I know I said it and probably shouldn’t have.

So, okay, there’s the short list.  Give me some more and I’ll address it.  And who knows, if you’re the winner I might just make you something and mail it to you.  Be a’sendin’!

I like Elijah. There’s always Zachariah! I also like Nathaniel. It doesn’t have the AH on the end, but it starts with an N, so then you would have 2 with and N and 2 with a J. Moses? I was joking about that. Surprised you like that one. I need to go get out my Bible.

I love Elijah. That is my fav. by far. Isaiah is next I think. I really like Isaac, doesn’t end with ah though. This is hard. You have already used my two fav boy biblical names, Noah and Jonah. Good luck!

I have a Jeremiah and though he did get sung to for the first year, it has passed… But we still have fun with the frog thing… We even changed the words to the song so that it was ok when people sang it… “We never understood a single word he said (he is still really little) But we love him all the time…” Anyway, just my input… I also like the Elijah, and we have a Steven. Oh, Levi is another not so common one… Or Gabriel…

Hey there! We named our first four kids with one middle name, and our fifth which we knew to be our last (from me and my husband, that is) with two middle names, like a big bang at the end of a sentence!(or in our case, a paragraph lol) His name is Jehu Johnathan Samuel Green, and we haven’t met another Jehu yet!(I know, they’re out there!) Do pick a name that you feel led to, as God already knows your babies character! He’s a good person to ask too!

Isaiah is my absolute favorite biblical name!Levi is wonderful too but no ah at the end. ;)
You still have that book I gave you with the biblical names, seems like it may be time to break it out!

I love Thomas.. that’s Carter’s middle name and I only regretted using it as his middle name b/c it meant we could never use it as a first name in the future. lol I like Elijah and I love Isiah.

I was going to let you know that we have some boy stuff that I found (thought it was all gone!) so, if you need anything let me know. I’m not sure if you are overrun with baby clothes now or what… but a lot of it is stuff we bought for Samuel and is basically brand new. We won’t need it again so you can have it and give it to The Call, keep it, or whatever when you’re done. :)

I know it does’nt have an “ah” at the end, but what about Daniel? It’s my dh’s name and I love it! If we ever had another boy, I’d love to name him Daniel, but that’s just me, lol. Or Ephriam? I think that’s how you spell it?

  • Chanda

Oh yes, chickadee, Jude is at the top of my list!

I love the name Jude. This is Paulas lil boys name. Yaknow you may find some great ideas if you look up Saits names. Its neat also to read about that saint and one day tell your lil one how that saint led his/her life for Christ.

Adam, Benjamin, Caleb, Daniel, Ephraim, Frank, and Gideon. Everything I know about Bible names I learned from Seven Brides for Seven Brothers!! LOVE Gideon. That’s on my invisible, unnecessary short list.

    Hey Suzanne,
How about Gabriel (you can call him Gabe)? That was our boy name- then we ended up with Gabriella! :)

  • Maury Draper

I am waiting on a critique/rundown of your thoughts on all these names!
