THOM Magazine

the debut edition of The Heart of the Matter rolled out yesterday.  i know i’ve talked on and on about this and haven’t really explained it.  i was waiting for the debut.  and it’s here!!

it is an online magazine.  just like what you get mailed to you in your mail box when order a subscription to better homes and gardens.  you can subscribe online and the new edition each month will be sent to you online.  the columnists have specific topics that they write on each month.  the contributors (which is what i am) have no set topics and will write a post twice a month in between each big monthly roll-out.  we will have weekly memes on friday.  we will have giveaways – there’s one up now (very very cool, by the way!).  we will have a weekly featured homeschooler (which is my other contribution – i’m the interviewer).  if you have someone you’d like to see featured let me know.  there are forums where you can discuss anything homeschooling that you can think of.  we have merchandise available for purchase – know that i will be saving for some of this stuff!  and speaking of saving there’s a column each month on frugal living.  just what i need!  there are columnists writing on their children with special diagnoses.  the writers are so varied that you won’t find yourself left out.  we represent every aspect of homeschooling that you can imagine.  the main goal and purpose of the magazine is encouragement and resources.  all in one place.  and don’t feel like you have to be a homeschooler to come visit.  there’s lots of links, printables, projects, ideas (2 of mine are featured this month!) and info for you parents that want to supplement (which i know you already do!) the education they’re getting in school.  in fact, one of the columnists writes specifically about how to combine homeschooling with public schooling.

and on top of all of this we got noticed by about.com yesterday!  it’s only gettin’ better!  come by.  leave a comment.  i’ve been talking with these amazing women for about 3 weeks now and i can tell you, you don’t have to be famous, especially witty, or part of the imagined “clique” to start visiting with everybody.  they’d love to hear from you.  we’ve all been praying over this venture from the beginning and it shows.  these women believe in what they’re doing and their enthusiasm is contagious.  welcome!
