here are a few school ideas i came up with a while back. i promise i’m not just trying to brag – i love finding ideas on other sites and i thought i would offer up mine to fellow seekers. and if you have stuff you’ve come up with – post it! i’d love some new inspiration!

here is a number line. i cut out the numbers from a magazine, glued them to card stock and contact papered it. i also made several of each number so that they can match them, add them, subtract them, find the missing ones, and just play with them.

i did the alphabet the same way. they match the capital letters to lower-case letters, put them in order, put the missing ones in the correct places, play memory by turning them over; read and build simple words.
and speaking of playing memory…

when we started learning money recognition and values i made these…

yes, that is actual money taped to card stock. i wanted them to learn actual coins, not just the plastic stuff. for each coin there is a card with the “heads” side and one with the “tails” side. when we play the game, we match the coin to the value, and coin to coin. as they flip over the coin, i tell them the name of the coin and ask them or tell them the value and then they hope to get a “match” of the value with the correct coin. they stretch their memory, take turns, learn coin recognition, coin names, and the coin values all while thinking they’re just playing a game. this is one that’s a hit – they ask for it pretty frequently.
