here are a few things i’m loving lately…
tv doesn’t have to be all bad.
the magic school bus – the show and site. the science of this show is great. they tell me the facts they learn from this all the time. and want to know more about the subjects. so we run with it. we use it as a spring board for learning.
between the lions – my oldest’s actually starting to “get” reading now. this is one of the most well thought out shows i’ve seen. and all three love it.
singapore math – i’m doing this with both the boys – the first 2 kindergarten workbooks i’m doing with my 4 year old and the second 2 i’m doing with my 5 year old. i love that it tells me what to teach, the lessons are so short, the work is hands on followed by practice worksheets, the sheets are kid-friendly looking and i’m using the 2 later books to teach the scientific method and use the terms like “data” and “recording” and “findings.”
jonah festival – this is something our church is doing. wow. they’ve asked people to contribute art. the arkansas symphony orchestra is involved. and i’m using it to read the book of jonah to the kiddos. we look at the art, read what the artist wrote about it, and read the Bible. AMAZING.
