Make Way For Ducklings by Robert McClosky
our second week in Five In A Row is complete. and what fun it was!
we made ducky projects to start the week out. i love seeing how my middlest’s personality is coming out in his art work now. it’s as much fun as it was when my oldest just got started creating things. and they’re work is so THEM!
and then we finished up the week with a field trip to the Peabody hotel in Little Rock to see the famous ducks parade down to their fountain. of course, the viewing of the ducks wouldn’t be complete without a complete fit by my 20 month old in the middle of the presentation. and i realized i had moved from freakin’-out-first-time-paranoid-mom to a mother of 3 1/2 when in the midst of the fit and uppity stares from everyone, i was snapping pics and laughing out loud at her. when i used to wonder how moms of so many kids did it, i think i now know. they laugh. a lot. and ignore everybody else. and look as crazy as a betsy-bug!
what an awesome day!

i’m officially to the point in the pregnancy that i start counting how many weeks left as opposed to how many i am. i’m in the single digits now – 9 weeks to go til the e.t.a. not much new to report really, except the braxton-hicks contractions are really rockin’ me lately. and we have the baby shower on february 10th. i can’t wait! it’ll be so good to see everybody again!
we’ve been studying Make Way For Ducklings by Robert McClosky this week in our homeschooling. and the boys are loving it. tomorrow we’re taking our field trip to the Peabody in Little Rock to see the ducks parade themselves down to the fountain to play for the day. we’re so excited! my plan, when i get organized (yeah, right!) is to do at least a weekly post on our schooling, what we’re doing, the cute projects the boys come up with, and the funny things they say. for instance, the other day we were doing our vocabulary words one of which was molting – which my 5 year old at first called molding ;) – and my 3 year old wanted to know what the ducks looked like when they lost their old feathers – in his little head they lost them all at once! he said, “i know what they look like – they look like bald-head eagles!” needless to say, we looked up molting ducks online and were able to see that they just look a little rough, not bald! another of our words was incubating. we discussed it and later that evening our oldest told daddy that mama was incubating our new baby! indeed, sir, i think i am!
in other news, we bid on the house. now we wait til monday, i think, to find out if we make it to the next round of this house thing. my husband took this when we went to look at the house we’ve been praying for. i call this one “dreamin’”. this is the room the kids want if we get the house and i think this pic says so much. that night when we got home, our 5 year old said, “mama, if we get that new house it will be the luxury house.” yes, it would. i concur, captain! we are, obviously, still praying for His will in this. i look back and smile at the big house in our old hometown. we threw all caution to the wind to get that house and prayed, pretty outrightly to get it no matter what. i wonder if God might have allowed that one to teach us a gentle small lesson. one that He knows best, even when we might initially be disappointed. as most of y’all know, we spent more time at that house cursing the curses! i always said i had a love/hate relationship with that house and pearl said he just had a hate/hate relationship with it!! so, i say that to say this – we learned a lesson. we don’t want this house at ALL costs. we just want it if it’s His will. there’s no telling what He might be saving us from. i just REALLY want it to be His will! as usual, when we know – you’ll know!
i haven’t made the time to work on my site anymore. i’ll get to it sometime! but please keep comin’ back – i’ll eventually make more improvements. in the meantime take a look around – i have a photo album that i’ll try to keep updating and i hope to have some pretty cool links – whenever i figure that out!

so… what do you think so far?
i worked on my links for about an hour last night to have just pearl’s show up. argh. so that will be my first endeavor when i have time to tinker again.
also, please pray for us this week. we go tonight to write up a bid for the house we want and the bid closes the end of this week so we’ll have hope and patience.
(and i just realized, i don’t know how to override my pop-up blocker, i was going to put a pic of the house on here. oh well, use your imagination!)

so innocent. so sweet. never in trouble. always repentent.
are you kidding me?!
it’s taking me a while to post because i’ve caught my honey’s “updating blog” fever. i may even change over to somewhere other than blogspot. i don’t know. but i’m addicted to designing nonetheless! :) i’ll let you know if i move or get bored with it. i hope your weekend was great!

i normally don’t show off my uncovered 4xpregnant-stretchmarked-belly, but what a great pic! (this is the exact reason widebody has the “oprah” disclaimer by my link!)
i had my regular ob visit yesterday. i’m 30 weeks 2 days now. less than 10 weeks to go! still not quite time to pack bags or clean car seats (not that we have a van yet to put it in!) or wash clothes or set up the pack-n-play, still just time to wait!
his heart rate was 155 and ridiculously loud and clear! he has flipped head down now. my blood pressure’s still great – 90 something over 60 something. my bloodwork from last visit was good. glucose test went great and my iron level is great as well. and now for the big one….drum roll please… I ONLY GAINED 2 POUNDS! considering i’m supposed to gain a pound a week and it’s been 3 weeks, i did good this time. and considering the last 2 visits i nearly doubled the amount i was supposed to gain each time – i did great! (however, my mom brought over these chocolate covered fruit things that are awesome and i’ve had 6 this morning already – if i blow it next time i’m blaming you!!!!! just kidding! ;) )
so as doc said, “well, you look great on paper, now we’ll see how you hold up spiritually for the rest of the downhill slide!” i couldn’t have said it better myself, dear sir!
in other news, we’ve been fighting down my girl’s 104.8 fever since last night – she’s doing much better this morning. my 5 year old lost that second tooth and the gap is already almost filled in with two new big boy teeth. and when i asked the kids to pray with me at the time joel’s dad was going into the meeting at the courthouse the other day, as soon as we got down on the floor my 3 year old started praying for him. talk about heartmelting. when he finished he said, “i prayed for little joel morris.” and, boy, did God hear him.
i’m making calls about a new loan for a house. please pray for us for this. as you probably know, this is really stressful and it would (hopefully) put us moving within the the next month and a half if it happens. for those of you keeping count, that means just prior to baby’s appearance. and we still have a mini-van to buy. but if we can find a house and manage to pull off the buying part – this new loan could save us almost half of what we’re paying in rent, we’d have a little more room, hopefully a yard for the kids to play in, and not to mention the minor detail of a home of our own for the first time. so please, please, please pray for us. i have to make phone calls in just a minute – and this is SO easy to do with the busy kiddos running around. i think this either happens now, or doesn’t happen for months to come. and we could really use the half a rent right now.
i’m off to kid wrangle, make phone calls to buy a house, see why medicaid has mysteriously dropped my whole family without telling us before we showed up at the doctor, fight my daughter’s fever and fits, fix breakfast and teach my 2 older children to read, you know, the norm…. :)
and, p.s., don’t feel too bad for my husband - i did manage to get him a birthday milkshake yesterday! right after having a pregnant woman meltdown about needing a break or something!
